Is it really October?

Hi there!

How was your first weekend of October?  It was absolutely beautiful here in Boise.  It doesn’t even feel like fall except that it gets dark so early.

Saturday morning I somehow managed to turn off my alarm instead of hit snooze.   So when I woke up at 8:09am, I panicked because my running group was meeting at 8:30am.  Luckily I had all of my stuff together so I quickly poured coffee, grabbed an english muffin and got ready to run out the door.  I let my friend in the group know I was running a few minutes late and headed to our meeting spot at Whole Foods.

We ran 10 miles and then met back up at Whole Foods for some coffee and I treated myself with a Rice Flour Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffin.  It was very tasty and I chatted with the group for a few before it was time to head home and get ready for work.Pumpkin Muffin

Saturday evening we decided to grill up some burgers, chicken thighs and salmon.  We had burgers for dinner and prepared the chicken thighs and salmon for meals later in the week.  Grill

Steve helped me with meal prep and making up lunches for the week.  It was super helpful and we got it done so fast by working together.Food Prep Grilled Edition

After dinner I put on my compression socks, turned on the fireplace and got comfy on the couch to watch the Boise State Broncos take down the Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii.  Steve and I actually started dating just over 9 years ago when we had our first “date” during the BSU vs. HI game.  Still can’t believe it’s been that long and that matchup will always make me happy as a reminder of it.Recovery Socks

Sunday morning I woke up early and sipped coffee while reading blogs before Steve got up.  He offered to make pumpkin pancakes and I definitely took him up on it!  They were so yummy and a great pre-run breakfast.Pumpkin Pancakes

I ran 5 miles after breakfast along the Oregon Trail area just down the street from our house.  I love this area because the trail is wide and slightly soft and it’s so cool to appreciate the history of the area.  Plus the fall colors were gorgeous! Morning run

Then we took the dogs for a hike up Tablerock.  More fall colors and it really tired the dogs out…win..win!Hike with the dogs

After all of that we came home and cleaned up the garage, weeded, mowed the yard and made sure enjoy all of the sunshine of the afternoon!

Football Sunday!

Another Christmas as come and gone.  How do they go so quickly?  I packed up our Christmas decorations today and it was bittersweet.

I sound like a broken harp but my knee is still hurting so I decided not to do my long run today.  My only option was to run on the treadmill and I knew that would only make it worse.  However, I did go to spin class and Body Pump this afternoon so I did get in a good workout.

This morning I made some banana bread to use up a bunch of leftover ones in the freezer.  Banana bread

I also put together a Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Lasagna(a modified version) for tonight’s dinner because it is football Sunday.  What says more football more than Buffalo Chicken?  Not much! Chicken Pasta sauce and bufflao sauce waiting for the chopped chickenPasta Bowl NoodlesLayer of noodles
