Yesterday morning I ran 24 miles on the treadmill….again due to bad weather. Here was my mileage breakdown.
Miles 1 – 4 @ 9:22
Miles 5 – 8 @ 9:14
Miles 9 – 12 @ 9:05
Miles 13 – 16 @ 8:57
Miles 17 – 19 @ 8:49
Miles 20 – 22 @ 8:42
Miles 23 – 24 @ 8:34
I was really happy with my negative splits and my overall pace was 9:25. I was definitely ready to be done at the end but glad I was able to push myself at the end. I do a walk break every 10 minutes when I run long on the treadmill to help break it up.
On Saturday after work, we walked the dogs to the park to play some ball. They go crazy when we say it’s time for a walk and they even know what streets to go turn on for the park. What can I say, they are labs!
Then I bribed Steve into going to Bed, Bath and Beyond to work on our wedding registry. I know know, you can do it all online but I stare at the computer enough during tax season…plus I wanted to use the registry gun like they do in the movies. Ha! That was fun and it was nice to actually look and compare things in person with Steve.
Steve “seriously” contemplating the different types of pillows
Afterwards, I treated him to some beer and pizza and we even caught some of the Wisconsin vs. Oregon game. Hey I know what works with him so I use it! (he is from Wisconsin after all)
A very deep dish Chicago style pizza. This one had way to much tomato sauce for me.
Question of the day:
How are your brackets doing, if you are one of the March Madness enthusiasts?
Thursday I hit the cardio hard by taking spin class in the morning. I rode 20 miles during the morning class before heading off to work. Then after work I went to Body Pump (had to squeeze it in since we will be out of town) and another spinning class. Rode another 21.5 miles for the evening class for a total of 41.5 miles. Woo Hoo! Now if only I could find a triathlon close by….
Friday morning I ran 8 miles on the treadmill. It was tough! My legs were definitely tired from all the spinning the prior day but again since we are going to Steve’s parents house the Christmas I am not sure if I will we able to fit in long runs so I sucked it up and did it.
We had been keeping a close watch on the weather since a storm was on its way and decided to leave at 3pm on Friday.
Saturday morning we split up (Steve and his mom, me and his dad) to do some Christmas shopping. Shopping the weekend before Christmas was CRAZY!!
After shopping we came home with our presents and groceries. It was sample day at Sam’s and at Brennan’s Market (awesome market in Madison, WI) but we were hungry after we got home so I decided to make Buffalo Chicken Beer Cheese Dip. This was in no way shape or form healthy but hey I’m in Wisconsin, beer and cheese are their main food groups This dip is soooo good! You won’t be sorry if you try it.Steve also started making his cheesecake, he found this recipe while watching Secrets of a Restaurant Chef by Anne Burrell. This recipe is very good. It has goat cheese in it as well which gives it a wonderful savory flavor.
Then I started working on some white chocolate peppermint biscotti. I love biscotti in the morning with my coffee. They turned out pretty well and definitely have a great peppermint taste. We ended the evening by watching Home Alone and Muppet Christmas Carol and sipped on some hot apple cider with caramel liquor. Wonderful way to end a busy day.
